Ride this on fairly steep Rocky/Technical trail in [...] County. I am 6'4" and 210lbs. So I was thrilled to find a big bike (XL 29") that is still nimble, fast, and light weight. This thing climbs very well, has plush suspension, can handle downhill over rocky stuff without jarring you off the bike. The standard seat is weak and the rear tire lacks tred and girth for the trails I ride. Overall this bike is a HUGE upgrade over my old 26r. Component levels are pretty good for the money too. Very good bike and a very good value.

I rode a 26" Gary Fisher for casual rides for a long time and enjoyed it. But when I started getting into some longer XC rides with high climbs and fast downhills, I didn't have a chance with my 26". As soon as I rode my 29er Trek on some of my regular climbs and downhills, I immeidiately felt the difference. I went from riding 55% and walking 45% to riding 90% and walking only 10%. This will change once I catch up to my 29er's ability. Love this bike.

I ride trails in [...], not big mountains but plenty of switchbacks, climbs and downhills. This bike handles tight turns like a dream. The rapid fire SRAM shifters are perfect. I just rode a track where I'd be worn out and my back would hurt on my old chrome-moly 26" bike. I RAGED on my new bike and would have rode the trail again if it hadn't started raining. This bike feels AWESOME. It's a 19". I'm 6' 195lbs and I ride 2-3 times a week. I'm much faster on this bike and have a lot more fun. I can't believe how I blast up hills that used to have me sucking wind and fly on some pretty crazy downhill sections. I just wanna ride! I highly recommend this bike. Great geometry. Excellent bike.

I switched from a 26 hard tail to a 29er FS bike and the difference is unbelievable! I immediately got made it up climbs that I thought I could never with my old bike! First ride too, it is like a dream compared to a HT!

I use this bike to ride the local bike path during the week with my girlfriend, then bomb down the trails with my friends on the weekend. Overall it is an excellent dual purpose bike and I couldn't be happier. The first time I rode it on my usual trail I could not believe how much faster I was going!! I enjoy riding all-mountain and love the fact that I'm faster uphill than all my buddies and can even keep up with my friend and his EX-8 downhill now!

I looked at this bike and some others. When Trek had a demo I fell in love with the bike. It handled like a champ and I felt extremely in control on the trail. I tried other bikes, but none felt as a fit than the Hifi. The upgrade would be to go to the Super Fly 100 the carbon version.

I TRIED OTHER 29ER'S AND I CAME AWAY REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH THE HIFI. A GREAT RIDING BIKE AND IT WAS MUCH EASIER TO RIDE THE TRAILS WITH ON THIS BIKE.I HIT SOME VERY DIFFICULT TRAILS THAT I COULDNT DUE BEFORE DUE TO MY OTHER BIKE'S LIMITAIONS. ALL I COULD SAY DURING MY RIDE ON THE HIFI WAS "WOW".I TOTALLY TAKEN AWAY ON HOW THIS BIKE RIDES. THE ONLY UPGRAGE I WOULD MAKE WOULD BE THE BRAKING SYSTEM.IT'S GOOD BUT I WOULD LIKE A STRONGER BRAKING SYSTEM.BUT BANG FOR BUCK, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO.

I demo'd this bike and immediatley fell in love with how it rode. I thought I was on a 26er! It felt snappy and responsive as well as plush. The G2 geometry was the ticket. I knew I had to have it. I brought it out on one of my technical trails and it rolled over everything and was a joy to bomb the downhills. What I was really impressed with was how well it climbed! This bike has brought my stoke back on mountain biking!!! I heard folks saying 29ers wouldn't be good for very technical trails, they were totally wrong. This thing eats up everything and carves tight lines as well, I would recommend this bike to any non-believers! With a few upgrades I was able to lighten it up abit and now she rocks!

I have had the HiFi Plus for almost a year. The first time I took it out on a real trail I found my self laughing out loud. Not only did it handle great and climb like a goat but I felt more in control than I have ever felt on a bike before. The 29" tires left me thinking why in the heck did nobody ever think of this before? I was able to climb hills that I have litterally never been able to climb. After a couple of months of biking hard and getting back in shape I was chewing up trails so fast that it brought tears to my eyes. The one thing you should be weary of with this bike is that it can cause over confidence in your own abilities, seiously. After 3 of the best biking months of my life I was bombing down a trail I had been down many times before and just having a ball. I decided to take one part of the trail a little on the high side in order to catch a little air. next thing I know I'm in the dirt. I was going so fast and with such control that I felt invicible. Alas my skill were no match for the 24" tall flat faced rock that I did not see, nor the 6" rock that "cushioned" my fall. I hit so hard that it rattled my ancestors teeth. End result a shattered collar bone. Surpisingly, the bike was fine. bottom line, this is a great bike, incredibly well built and designed ahead of it's time. Just becareful because this bike will have you going faster and more aggressivly than you have ever ridden before.
