Triathlon Training & Team 2017 


the program

This comprehensive program is built to prepare novices or experienced triathletes for Sprint and/or Olympic distrance triathlon events. A partnership between E3 Coaching of Madison, Sport and Spine Physical Therapy and 2 Rivers Bicycle and Outdoor create the necessary resources to make any individual successful.  The program is built on assessment, a solid training plan, experienced coaching and instruction as well as high quality product and equipment offerings. Our goal is to help all of our participants to meet their individual goals while at the same time build a community of multi-sport athletes ithat creates a solid sporting foundation for years to come.

Schedule


functional training and recovery

(Mon 7:00 pm): This is a dynamic class that includes dynamic warm-up, foam rolling, TRX, balance, mobility, stregth and more. 

Swim

(Wed 7:15 pm): Indoor swimming will be utilized for the first 12 weeks prior to workouts transitioning to outdoor open water swims. You will coached on technique while improving endurance in the water.

Cycling

(Sat 7:00 am): Indoor cycling will be utilized for the first 12 weeks prior to workouts transitioning to outdoor rides. You will be guided through a pre-prepard workout, instructed on solid riding technique throughout as well as build your endurance for the cycling leg of the triathlon. Participants can use a spin bike for free or pay a $10 rental fee for an indoor trainer (bring your own bike). All rental fees can go towards purchase of trainer. Participants can also bring their own trainer (or buy using discount).

Run

(Sun 7:00 am): Guided group runs once a week will be coordinated and scheduled following the master training plan. These will be longer runs that will start at designated locations.

Coaches & Instructors


Instructors will follow the plan created by the professional coaches of E3 for the entirety of the training cycle. Should a participant hit a period of illness or absence, instructors will collaborate with E3 to make temporary individual adjustments to get them back to the core training plan.

Zeus Arreguin (Program Training Plan, Performance Evaluation, Tri 101 Clinic)

MS, LPC-T, USA Triathlon Certified Coach, Trigger Point Performance and SMRT - Core Certified Psychotherapist. Coach Zeus was raised in Janesville, WI and was a three - sport athlete in high school; soccer, basketball, and track. He lettered in Varsity as a freshmen running the 400 meter dash, was a team leader in all three sports, and earned academic scholarships transitioning into college. He earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has a Masters of Science in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. While he likes to play hard ball, he's also very understanding of the athlete's needs. But rarely does he tolerate whining! Coach Zeus says he models his coaching after Coach Krzyzewski, "Coach K" from Duke University Basketball; "I like to know why the athlete does what he/she does. I want to get inside their heads, push them, yet I expect the athlete to possess a sense of accountability." As a USAT certified coach, Z has led athletes to successful finishes in 5K's, Ironman's, and everything in between. Coach Zeus is looking forward to working with you. Outside of coaching, coach Z works as a therapist specializing in counseling families, couples, teens, depression and anxiety. He can also be found eating steak tacos at almost any time of the day.  

Bill Doyle (Program Training Plan, Performance Evaluation, Tri 101 Clinic)

Coach Bill is very excited to start his first season at with E3 Coaching. Bill is a USAT Level 1 triathlon coach. During the winter months Coach Bill is a part of the coaching staff at Wisconsin Indoor Cycling. He has trained and competed in triathlons for the past six years. Bill moved from Chicago this last year where he trained at one of ten USAT Certified Performance Centers. Throughout the year Coach Bill is a Physical Education Teacher at Verona High School. He also coaches Varsity Boys Soccer. Coach Bill is extremely excited to share his knowledge on the sport of triathlon, and to be a part of your journey through health and triathlon!

John Raub (Cycling)

This is John's seventh season as an indoor cycling instructor at 2 Rivers Bicycle and Outdoor. He has had certifications with USA Cycling, Team in Training and Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Sciences from Ohio University and Masters of Information Technology from University of Dallas. He has ridden his bike in multiple countries, competed in events throughout the United States and is beginning to participate in run, tri and duathlon events. Husband and father first and foremost! Founder and President 2 Rivers Bicycle and Outdoor.

Equipment and Product Discounts


2 Rivers Bicycle and Outdoor has contracts with Trek Bicycle, Speedo, TYR, Saucony, Brooks, QBP (distributes Zoot and Pearl Izumi gear) and other vendors to meet all equipment needs for our participants. Participants will receive the following pricing for the 2017 calendar year:

  • 15% off all accessories, clothing, parts and accessories (includes all swim gear, running, etc.)
  • Team pricing on one bicycle
  • Team pricing on Hammer Nutrition

Registration


Registration is limited. The training program starts 1/30/17 (Monday)for the 4 month Sprint and 5 month Olympic distance and end at the end of May or June depending on if you are doing a Sprint or Olympic distance program.  The Tri Training Basic plans start April 3rd.
